Fingask Castle is situated in the sheltered wooded valley of the Fingask Burn.

There are wonderful walks throughout the castle grounds, where there is an outdoor swimming pool (summer months only) and a tennis court available to guests. These are not however, of serious competition standard. There is also a large trampoline for children - but only one at a time please!

Indoors there is a ping-pong room and a separately housed full-sized billiard table. Children must be supervised when using these facilities.

The trees, the topiary, the numerous statues, the magnificent views, the holy well, the great lawns around the castle combine to provide a secluded country atmosphere.

Curling Pond - Please see separate entry under Curling. The curling pond at Fingask is kept up for use in the increasingly rare frozen winters. It is interesting to note that this curling pond was used sometimes for 3 months on end in the middle of the 19th century, in the 21srt century it is used at most every other year. Global warming?

Day Trips - Fingask is ideally placed for day visits to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Royal Deeside, St Andrews and the Highlands: also less than twenty minutes drive from Perth and Dundee for a wide variety of shops, restaurants, theatres and cinemas.

Horse Riding and Polo - there are friendly stables nearby and a polo club at Scone.

Shooting - Formal high bird pheasant shooting can be aranged on Fingask and neighbouring estates (please give as much notice as possible).
Informal goose and duck flighting in the marshes of the Tay in winter (guides recommended and can be supplied). There is a clay pigeon shoot on the estate.

Fishing - Salmon fishing - the best salmon fishing on the Tay is nearby and can be arranged.
Informal fishing for brown trout is available on the ponds and lakes of the Fingask Stream to people staying on the Estate.

Golf - The home of Golf: St Andrews is 45 minutes away and there are numerous golf courses closer to Fingask

Walking/Climbing - Behind the castle is the vale of Strathmore and beyond that, within easy reach are the Cairngorms with twenty Munros within an hour's drive.

Skiing - Glenshee and The Lecht are an hours drive away. Cross-Country skiing is available in the nearby glens.
